The First Question That Eloping Couples Ask

When couples decide they are ready to do a smaller wedding or elope, most of them have the same question, and that is; “Where do we start?!”.

This is because the majority of couples who are choosing to have an intimate wedding have never been to a small wedding themselves and may not even know anyone who has eloped either, not to mention that it is probably not something that their parents have done - all of which means, they really have no idea where to start.

This is great to understand as a wedding vendor because it means that you can make sure you are in the position to meet your small wedding couples where they are at. So, lets talk about why this information can be so valuable to your wedding business.

For most couples, planning their wedding begins online where there are a ton of resources available. But, the majority of these resources are geared towards couples doing traditional format weddings that are much larger. There is just not as much online for couples planning smaller weddings and even when couples find information about eloping or having a smaller wedding - it might not apply to them because of location specifics or it could be confusing since there are so many different small wedding formats and different definitions. Which means that couples choosing to elope are usually unsure about how or where to start planning their wedding and even what they should be doing at their wedding.

This means that you as a small wedding vendor get to help your couples define what their small wedding could look like and there are great opportunities to get found by your ideal couples by helping provide resources online that they are looking for. No matter how you serve small wedding couples, you can attract your prospective couples by making sure that you are providing information and resources on how you fit into their wedding day.

First, lets outline how you can help your couples by knowing this. What many pros take for granted is that our couples know more about weddings and planning their wedding than they really do. This is probably the first time that your couples are planning a wedding and if they are planning a small wedding that means they are even less prepared to begin. So, providing them information about how your services can fit into their day is a great idea. My tip is to start a little more basic than you even think you need to and make sure that your couples know exactly what you do and why they would need and want that on their wedding day. If you have services for small weddings, it is even more important to paint the picture of a couples day and how you can help them to have the experience they are looking for and what that looks like.

Secondly, lets go over how and where you can provide this information to your couples, because it shouldn’t just be on the Services page on your website. Getting the word out about what you can do for couples choosing to elope should be a big part of your marketing strategy because now you know that this is the most common question couples want to know. That means that taking a multi faceted approach and covering it on all your platforms is the best route you can take. Write about it on your social media and use this frequently as topics you discuss on your posts and videos. Create blog posts on your website that address exactly how couples planning small weddings should start working with you and other posts covering how other couples did their small weddings or elopements. Some vendors might want to create resources for couples planning smaller weddings and these could either be something you provide for free through a pop-up on your website or use in advertising or on social media as a freebie.

There are a ton of ways to include this information on your platforms and it is worth making sure you have this dialed in and repeating it to your prospective couples because new couples find you all the time - and they are going to want answers to their question; “Where do we start?”.
